Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I get a claim number?

Claim numbers are issued by your insurance company at the time you inform them of your accident. You will need the claim number to begin the repair process. Bring it with you when dropping off your vehicle at Blue Ribbon Auto Collision for repairs.

Do I have to use the body shop my insurance recommended?

No. You can take your vehicle to the shop of your choice. Blue Ribbon Auto Collision works with all insurance companies. Although we may not be on a particular insurance company’s Direct Repair Program, we have built great business relationships with many insurance companies, which allows us to begin the repair process immediately.

Do I need to obtain several estimates?

No. You only need one estimate from the shop of your choice.

How do I get a rental?

We can help you make the necessary rental arrangements. However, most insurance companies will only pay for a rental if it is part of your policy or if you are the claimant. If rental is not within your policy, we will gladly provide transportation to your next destination after leaving your vehicle with us.

How long will the repair process take?

The repair process depends on factors such as insurance authorization for repair, additional damage found during disassembly, or the arrival of necessary parts ordered. Once the estimate is completed, your service advisor will provide you with an estimated completion date. If any factors change during the repair process, your service advisor will keep you informed/updated with the status of your vehicle’s repairs.

What if my insurance company estimate is less than your estimate?

Many times, the insurance company will write a conservative estimate anticipating that there will be a supplement for any hidden damage. All you need to do is bring the estimate that your insurance company has written, and we will work with your insurance company to take care of any additional cost related to your claim.

If my vehicle’s frame is damaged, is it a total loss?

No. A vehicle is a total loss only when the price of repairs exceeds the insurance company’s determined value of your vehicle. Our highly-skilled technicians can return your vehicle to its original factory specifications with the use of our state-of-the-art computer systems and equipment. However, if we determine that the frame section is damaged beyond repair, we can simply replace it.

Can you match the vehicle’s paint color?

Yes, your vehicle’s color is matched by a specific code that is imprinted on the vehicle by the manufacturer. With our state-of-the-art computer systems and equipment, our technicians will obtain the vehicle’s paint formula and spray test panels to ensure that the color matches your vehicle before applying it directly to the vehicle panels.

Can I get other service work done on my vehicle while it’s there at the body shop?

Yes. Simply notify your service adviser of what additional work you would like to be addressed, and you will be provided with an estimate.
